Abstract

Andalusia has been a pioneer region in the development of spatial planning since it assumed such competence in 1981. At the moment it can be considered that it is close to completing the approval process of territorial planning instruments on a subregional and regional scale. This, together with the vast extension of its territory, gives it a very prominent role in the matter. Under this premise and paying attention to the areas of opportunity, a novel way to execute the proposals of the territorial plans, the professor at the University of Malaga, Esther Rando Burgos, has prepared a didactic work, carefully edited, entitled Areas of opportunity and spatial planning in Andalusia.

 The book is structured in three well differentiated chapters that follow the same common thread. It stands out for its study methodology and its brilliant, analytical and concise writing, which helps to understand the subject even without being versed in it.
