Abstract

The object of this paper is the approximation to the reality of the Andalusian Savings Banks through a brief historical tour from its origin at the current time. It's about offering a panorama that help to know the role they have played in the development of the Community, the fundamental changes that they have had to face and their present configuration in order to determine its importance within the Andalusian financial mini-system and its preparation to face the future challenges. In general, it can be said that the great transformations of the Spanish financial system, as well as the incorporation of Spain into the European Union require reflection on the activity topics, functioning, size, competitiveness, strategies and incorporation of new global technologies in to the Spanish financial system, and in particular, the Andalusian Savings Banks.
