The elimination of municipal waste is today an environmental problem in all populations of a certain entity. Therefore, to find a solution in rural areas,it's necessary to choose an option between the existing technics that can solve the probem.
However, all procedures to have acceptable costs require volumes of municipal waste that exceed the production levels of most rural municipalities. Hence the need to study the problem from the perspective of the municipal association.
As is easy to understand, these two issues - scope of application and choice of technique are not independent; The extension of the geographical scope of joint use of a treatment system makes it possible to reduce the cost of treated tons, but, at the same time, increases transport costs. The optimal solution, from the economic point of view, will be the one that minimizes the overall costs of collection, transport and treatment.
