Two legal views on the celebrations of Holy Week

Holy Week as festival of International Tourist Interest and as asset of cultural interest

Abstract

The celebrations during Semana Santa, an important part of our culture, are analyzed in this article under a doble legal dimension: firstly, as celebrations of touristic interest and, secondly, as intangible cultural property belonging to our cultural heritage. The present essay assesses the different tools and techniques used for this purpose, as well as some insufficiencies and legal loopholes to be found in our legislation. The study is completed with the analysis of the latest legal novelties in this regard.
